Unwrap the fun with our Mummy cookies! These adorable and tasty treats will have everyone wrapped up in Halloween excitement!
Take note
Please be careful when handling hot baking trays and sharp knives. Keep an eye on your little monsters in the kitchen, and make sure they don't unravel the cookies too soon!
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl, cream together 1 cup of softened butter and 1 ½ cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, mixing well. In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
Divide the dough into smaller portions and roll each into 1-inch balls. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space in between for them to spread while baking. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass or your hand. These cookies will rise slightly, so don't worry if they're not perfectly flat.
Pop the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies turn golden brown. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the cookies are completely cool, it's time to transform them into adorable mummies! Melt 1 cup of white chocolate or white candy melts in the microwave or using a double boiler. Dip a spoon or fork into the melted chocolate and drizzle it over the cookies to create a mummy bandage effect. Get creative and let some of the cookie show through!
Using two candy eyeballs or small round candies, gently press them into the melted chocolate on each cookie to create the mummies' eyes. Be sure to do this while the chocolate is still soft, so the eyes stick securely. Repeat this process for all of the cookies and let them sit until the chocolate sets.
