Take note
As a precautionary measure, please ensure that you have all necessary ingredients before beginning the baking process. Be careful when handling hot caramel to avoid burns. And remember, the hardest part about baking this cake is not eating it all at once!
In order to create this celestial dessert, you'll need to gather the following ingredients: 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 cup of unsalted butter (softened), 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar, 4 large eggs, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, 1 cup of whole milk, 1 cup of caramel sauce, and a handful of edible star-shaped sprinkles.
Before we can blast off into baking, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This cake will rise to amazing heights in this heavenly temperature.
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate larger bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy with the power of a supernova. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. Now, slowly alternate adding the dry ingredients and the whole milk to the larger bowl, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Keep stirring until the batter is smooth and has the constellations of all the ingredients integrated perfectly.
Prepare your cake pans by greasing them with butter or lining them with parchment paper. Divide the batter equally between the pans, making sure to level the surface with the back of a spoon. Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. While the cakes are baking, resist the temptation to sneakily eat all the caramel sauce.
Once the cakes have cooled, level the tops if necessary. Then, drizzle half of the caramel sauce over one of the cake layers. Place the second cake layer on top and drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over it, allowing it to cascade down the edges like shooting stars. The more caramel, the better!
To give your cake a truly magical touch, sprinkle edible star-shaped sprinkles over the caramel drizzle, creating a constellation of crunchy goodness. Now, stand back and admire your celestial creation!
