Make sure you have all the necessary ingredients: - 1 cup of butter, softened - 1 cup of granulated sugar - 1 cup of brown sugar, packed - 2 eggs - 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract - 3 cups of all-purpose flour - 1 teaspoon of baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon of salt - 2 cups of chocolate chips
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. This may take a few minutes, so feel free to bust out those arm muscles!
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Once combined, gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix until just combined.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough. Try not to eat them all as you go!
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten the dough slightly with the back of a spoon.
Slide the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown. The centers will still be soft, but they'll firm up as they cool.
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the cookies to cool for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once they've reached a safe, non-tongue-burning temperature, grab a glass of milk and enjoy!
