Take note
Please note that Feijoada takes a bit of time to cook, so make sure you set aside enough time for all the steps. Also, be careful not to add too much salt as some of the ingredients are already salty.

1

Soak the black beans overnight

Rinse 500g of black beans and place them in a large bowl. Cover the beans with water and let them soak overnight. This will help soften the beans and reduce cooking time.

2

Cook the salted pork and beef

In a large pot, add 500g of salted pork ribs, 500g of beef jerky, and 500g of smoked sausage. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes to remove excess salt.

3

Add the soaked beans and simmer

Drain the soaked beans and add them to the pot with the meat. Add 1 chopped onion, 4 cloves of minced garlic, and 2 bay leaves. Cover with water and let it simmer for about 2 hours or until the beans are tender.

4

Prepare the side dishes

While the Feijoada is simmering, prepare some traditional side dishes like white rice, farofa (toasted cassava flour), and sautéed collard greens. These will complement the flavors of the stew perfectly.

5

Serve and enjoy

Once the beans are tender and the flavors have melded together, your Feijoada is ready! Serve it in large bowls alongside the side dishes you prepared earlier. Don't forget to garnish with fresh parsley and serve with orange slices, as they provide a refreshing contrast to the richness of the stew.
