You'll need

Items needed to answer the question, How do I make Spider Deviled Eggs for a Halloween potluck. Items include: Eggs Mayonnaise Dijon mustard Salt Pepper Paprika Black olives Edible googly eyes (optional)
  • Eggs 6
  • Mayonnaise 1/4 cup
  • Dijon mustard 1 teaspoon
  • Salt 1/4 teaspoon
  • Pepper 1/4 teaspoon
  • Paprika 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black olives 8-12, depending on the size of your spiders
  • Edible googly eyes (optional) to taste

Take note
Be careful not to overcook your eggs or they'll be too rubbery to work with. Also, if you're arachnophobic, this might not be the recipe for you!

1

Boil the eggs

Place your eggs in a saucepan and cover them with cold water. Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then let the eggs cook for about 10-12 minutes. Once they're done, remove the saucepan from the heat and drain the hot water. Run cold water over the eggs to cool them down.

2

Peel and slice the eggs

Gently tap each boiled egg on the counter to crack the shell, then peel off the shell under running water. Slice each egg in half lengthwise and carefully remove the yolks into a separate bowl.

3

Prepare the filling

To the bowl with the egg yolks, add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and a touch of paprika. Mash and mix everything together until smooth and creamy.

4

Fill the egg whites

Take a spoonful of the yolk mixture and carefully fill each halved egg white with it. Make sure to create a nice, rounded top!

5

Add the spider legs

To create the spider effect, use black olives. Slice the olives into thin, lengthwise strips. Place 4 olive strips on each side of the yolk filling to resemble spider legs. You can add more or fewer legs depending on the size of your spider!

6

Garnish and serve

For a finishing touch, you can add some edible googly eyes on top of each spider deviled egg. Or you can be creative and draw eyes on the yolks using a small amount of food coloring. Once you're done, arrange your spider deviled eggs on a platter and get ready to impress!
