Take note
Be careful when handling hot liquids and steam. Make sure to use caution when operating a milk frother or steam wand.
Pour the desired amount of milk into a stainless steel milk pitcher and heat it up using a steam wand or a milk frother until it reaches around 150°F (65°C).
Hold the steam wand just below the surface of the milk and position it slightly off-center. Turn on the steam and create a whirlpool by stirring the milk in a circular motion. This will help create a smooth and creamy texture for your foam.
Place your coffee cup on a flat surface and hold it at a slight angle. This will help the foam flow smoothly onto the surface of your coffee.
Begin pouring the milk from a height of about 6 inches (15 cm) into the center of the coffee cup. As the foam starts to form a circle, quickly move the pitcher back and forth in a straight line across the center of the cup.
To create the heart shape, stop pouring the milk and gently drag the tip of a toothpick or a latte art tool through the center of the foam, from top to bottom. This will create the top point of the heart. Then, quickly drag the toothpick horizontally across the foam to form the bottom of the heart shape.
