Select fresh and firm cucumbers from your local grocery store or farmer's market. Ideally, go for English or Persian cucumbers as they have a milder flavor and fewer seeds. Aim for about 2 to 3 medium-sized cucumbers to make a batch of Clouded Cucumber Cocktails.
Thoroughly wash the cucumbers under running water to remove any dirt or impurities. If desired, leave the skin on for added texture and flavor. Cut off the ends of the cucumbers and chop them into smaller pieces. Place the cucumber pieces in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to extract the cucumber juice. You'll need about 1 cup of cucumber juice for this recipe.
In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 parts cucumber juice, 1 part gin (or vodka if you prefer), 1/2 part fresh lime juice, 1/2 part simple syrup, and a handful of fresh mint leaves. You can adjust the sweet and tart balance by adding more or less simple syrup and lime juice, depending on your preference. Give it a good shake to blend all the flavors together.
Fill a glass with ice cubes, then strain the Clouded Cucumber Cocktail mix over the ice. Garnish with a cucumber slice or a sprig of mint, or get creative and try adding a twist of lemon or a sprinkle of black pepper for an extra kick. Give it a gentle stir and voilĂ ! Your refreshing, unique Clouded Cucumber Cocktail is ready to be enjoyed!
