Step back in time and create delicious 'Prehistoric Amber Jellies' filled with flavorful 'insects'. A Jurassic treat for all ages!
Take note
Please be careful when handling hot liquids and sharp kitchen tools. Also, make sure to check for any food allergies or dietary restrictions before serving.
Before we start our Jurassic culinary adventure, let's gather all the necessary components. You will need 4 cups of your favorite fruit juice (orange, apple, grape, etc.), 1/4 cup of unflavored gelatin powder, 1/2 cup of gummy insects (available at specialty candy stores or online), a saucepan, a whisk, silicone molds (in fun dinosaur shapes, if possible), and a refrigerator.
In a saucepan, pour the fruit juice and sprinkle the gelatin powder evenly over the surface. Let it sit for 2 minutes to allow the gelatin to bloom. After that, start whisking the mixture gently to combine the gelatin and juice.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and continue whisking until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Be patient, just like a dinosaur on the hunt. Avoid boiling the mixture, as it may affect the final texture of the jellies.
Now comes the fun part! Take your silicone molds and carefully place a few gummy insects in each cavity. You can go for a full-on insect invasion, or keep it mild with just a couple of critters in each jelly. Let your inner paleontologist guide you!
Carefully pour the warm gelatin mixture into the silicone molds, covering the gummy insects. Fill each cavity up to the top, but be cautious not to overflow. Keep a steady hand, just like balancing on a dinosaur's back!
Place the filled silicone molds in the refrigerator and let them chill for at least 2 hours, or until completely set. Once set, remove the jellies from the molds by gently pressing on the bottom of each cavity. Watch as your prehistoric amber jellies come to life!
