Reinvent a childhood favorite with our guide to adding a twist to a classic 'pop tart'. Delicious nostalgia with a creative spin!
Take note
Be prepared for an explosion of flavor and creativity. These reinvented pop tarts may not be suitable for those with a boring palate or a fear of culinary adventures.
To add a twist to a classic pop tart, you'll need the following: 2 store-bought pop tarts, 1/4 cup of your favorite jam or spread, 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and a pinch of sprinkles (because why not?).
Carefully slice each pop tart in half horizontally. Spread your chosen jam or spread of choice on one half of each pop tart. Don't be stingy, let that filling ooze out!
Place the other halves of the pop tarts on top of the filled halves to create a sandwich. Use a fork to gently press the edges together and seal them. Place the pop tarts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown.
While the pop tarts are cooling, mix the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth and creamy. This is your glaze, baby! Feel free to add a dash of vanilla extract or a squeeze of lemon juice for extra zing.
Once the pop tarts have cooled slightly, drizzle or dunk them into the glaze. Don't be shy, get creative! Sprinkle some sprinkles on top for an extra pop of color and pizzazz. Let the glaze set for a few minutes before indulging.
