Take note
Be cautious when handling hot liquids. Make sure to let everything cool before serving it to children to avoid any burns or accidents. Also, keep an eye on small children to prevent any choking hazards from the popping juice balls.
Combine 1/4 cup of fruit juice (preferably a kid-friendly flavor) with 1/2 teaspoon of agar in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.
Once the juice and agar mixture has cooled slightly, carefully pour it into a dropper or squeeze bottle. This will make it easier to drop small amounts into the cold oil later. If you don't have a dropper or squeeze bottle, you can use a small spoon or a piping bag with a small tip.
Fill a large bowl with cold water and ice cubes. This will be used to cool down the juice balls quickly once they are formed.
Pour vegetable oil into a large bowl, about 1 inch deep. Fill the dropper or squeeze bottle with the juice and agar mixture and carefully drop small balls of the mixture into the cold oil. They will solidify almost instantly and form small jelly-like balls.
Once all the juice balls are formed, carefully strain them out of the oil using a slotted spoon or mesh strainer. Rinse them under cold water to remove any excess oil and then transfer them to the bowl of ice water. Let them chill for at least 10 minutes before using them in bubble tea or any other creative way you can think of!
