Take note
Be careful not to bite down too hard on the nori seaweed, it can get a little messy!
First things first, let's make sure you've got everything you need. Grab some fresh sushi-grade fish like tuna or salmon, nori seaweed sheets, sushi rice, cucumber, avocado, and wasabi. You'll also need soy sauce for dipping. Once you've got everything ready, move on to the next step!
Cook the sushi rice according to the package instructions. Once it's done, let it cool to room temperature. You want the rice to be a bit sticky so it holds together when you roll it.
Slice your fish, cucumber, and avocado into thin strips. You want them to be long and slender so they'll fit nicely in your hand roll.
Lay a sheet of nori seaweed on a clean surface. Wet your hands with water to prevent the rice from sticking, then grab a handful of sushi rice and spread it evenly over the nori. Leave some space at the top to seal the roll.
Place a few strips of your chosen fish, cucumber, and avocado in the center of the rice. Add a bit of wasabi for that extra kick if you like it spicy!
Now comes the fun part! Grab the bottom corner of the nori and fold it over the filling. Roll it tightly, tucking in the ingredients as you go. Dip your fingers in water and wet the top edge of the nori to seal the roll.
Pour some soy sauce into a small bowl and add a bit of wasabi if you want some heat. Dip your temaki hand roll into the sauce and savor the flavors!
Take a big bite and enjoy the explosion of flavors. The combination of the fresh ingredients and the savory soy sauce will make your taste buds dance!
