Indulge in the aromatic layers of honey, nuts, and phyllo dough with our authentic 'Classic Baklava' recipe. A sweet treat that will melt in your mouth!
Take note
Beware of your sudden craving for more Baklava!
Start by carefully unrolling the phyllo dough and keeping it covered with a damp towel to prevent drying out. Brush a baking dish with melted butter.
Place a sheet of phyllo dough into the baking dish and brush it with melted butter. Repeat this process, stacking around 10-12 sheets with melted butter in between.
Sprinkle a generous amount of finely chopped nuts (such as pistachios, walnuts, or almonds) over the phyllo dough. Then, add another layer of phyllo dough and brush it with butter. Repeat this nutty and buttery layering.
Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the layered Baklava into diamond or square shapes. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
While the Baklava is cooling, prepare a sweet syrup by heating a mixture of honey and water until it reaches a simmer. Remove from heat and let it cool. Once the Baklava is cooled, generously drizzle the sweet syrup over it.
Allow the Baklava to rest for a few hours or overnight to let the flavors meld together. Then, serve and enjoy this delightful treat that will make your taste buds dance with joy!
