Discover a delicate and delicious treat with our 'Fragile Fig Fritters' recipe! Indulge in the sweet essence of figs with a delightful twist.
Take note
Handle figs with care as they can be delicate and easily bruised. Be cautious while frying the fritters to prevent any oil splatters. Enjoy the fritter feast responsibly!
Gently wash 10 fresh figs and pat them dry with a kitchen towel. Remove the stems from the figs and cut them into thin slices. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually whisk in 3/4 cup of milk until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
Pour vegetable oil into a deep skillet or pot, filling it about 2 inches deep. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature.
Dip the fig slices into the batter, making sure they are fully coated, and carefully place them in the hot oil. Fry the fritters for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and crispy.
Using a slotted spoon or tongs, transfer the fried fritters to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Allow them to cool for a minute, then serve the Fragile Fig Fritters warm. Sprinkle some powdered sugar on top, if desired.
