Take note
Be careful when handling hot pans and melted chocolate, as they can cause burns.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of melted butter, 2 cups of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix well until the sugar is fully dissolved. Add 4 eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of cocoa powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup of caramel candies and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the caramel is melted and smooth. Set aside.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Drizzle the melted caramel over the batter, creating a thin layer. Carefully spoon the remaining brownie batter over the caramel, smoothing it out to cover the caramel completely.
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan for about 1 hour. Transfer the brownies to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the brownies have cooled completely, use a sharp knife to cut them into squares or rectangles. Serve and enjoy!
