Handle pizza dough with care, it can be a bit tricky to work with. Take caution while handling hot oven and oven mitts.
In a bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of yeast. Slowly add 1 cup of warm water and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Preheat your oven to its highest setting, usually around 500°F (260°C), and place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat up. Let the oven preheat for at least 30 minutes to ensure the pizza stone is nice and hot.
Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into 2 equal parts. Working with one portion at a time, shape the dough into a round by stretching and pulling the edges towards the center. The dough should be thin in the middle and slightly thicker at the edges.
Lightly flour a pizza peel or the back of a baking sheet. Place one shaped dough onto the peel/sheet. Add your favorite tomato sauce, cheese, and toppings. Remember, less is more on a Neapolitan pizza! Carefully transfer the pizza onto the hot pizza stone/baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Once the pizza is done baking, remove it from the oven using an oven mitt or pizza peel. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing it up. Serve it hot and enjoy the taste of Neapolitan goodness right from your own kitchen!
