Take note
Please note that some steps require the use of an oven. Always exercise caution when handling hot baking pans and check that you have all the necessary ingredients before starting.

1

Prepare the Cupcake Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Whisk them together until well combined.

2

Mix the Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of softened unsalted butter and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add in 2 large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

3

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with 1/2 cup of milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

4

Fill the Cupcake Liners

Line a cupcake pan with paper liners. Fill each liner about 2/3 full with the cupcake batter. This should make around 12 cupcakes.

5

Bake to Perfection

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the cupcake pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.

6

Cool and Frost

Allow the cupcakes to cool completely on a wire rack before frosting. Once cooled, frost the cupcakes with your favorite buttercream frosting.

7

Create Sunflower Design

To create the sunflower design, add a yellow frosting petal border around the edge of each cupcake. Then, in the center, use chocolate frosting to create a circular shape. Lastly, add a few black icing dots in the center for the sunflower seeds.
