Take note
Handle with care: These cookies are so delicious, they might disappear faster than you can say 'snowflake'. Watch out for sugar-induced joy and be prepared to make another batch!
To make these Winter Snowflake Sugar Cookies, you'll need 2 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, ½ teaspoon of baking powder, a pinch of salt, 1 ½ cups of granulated sugar, 1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter (at room temperature), 1 large egg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a sprinkle of winter magic.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together. Don't forget to sprinkle in some winter magic for that extra touch!
Divide the dough into two equal portions and shape each portion into a disc. Wrap them individually in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or until firm. Once chilled, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness. Use snowflake-shaped cookie cutters to cut out your snowflake cookies. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each cookie.
Slide the baking sheet into the preheated oven and let the snowflakes bake for around 8-10 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown. Once baked, transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Be patient, my friend, as you wouldn't want to burn your fingers on a piping hot snowflake!
Now comes the most enchanting part – decorating your snowflake cookies! You can use royal icing, frosting, edible pearls, or even a dusting of powdered sugar to make them sparkle like freshly fallen snow. Let your imagination run wild, my friend!
