In a saucepan, heat 1 cup of your favorite beer over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Sprinkle 2 packets of unflavored gelatin into the beer and whisk until completely dissolved. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
In a trifle dish or individual serving glasses, layer pieces of your favorite cake at the bottom. You can use sponge cake, pound cake, or even brownies. Pour a portion of the beer-infused jelly over the cake layer and let it set in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
Once the jelly has set, add a layer of whipped cream or custard on top. You can make your own whipped cream by beating heavy cream with a little sugar until stiff peaks form. Alternatively, you can use store-bought whipped cream or custard.
Repeat the process of adding cake, jelly, and cream layers until you reach the top of the trifle dish or glasses. End with a layer of cream on top for an extra indulgent touch.
Cover the trifle dish or glasses with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight. This allows all the flavors to meld together. When ready to serve, you can garnish with chocolate shavings, fresh fruits, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
