Take note
Be sure to use caution when handling hot dishes and sharp knives. Also, keep in mind that the oven temperature can be very hot, so use oven mitts when handling the crisp.
Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Then, grab 4 large apples and peel, core, and slice them into thin wedges. Place the apple wedges in a large bowl and toss them with 1/4 cup of coconut sugar, 2 tablespoons of arrowroot powder, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Once the apples are well coated, set the bowl aside and move on to the next step.
In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of almond flour, 1/2 cup of chopped pecans, 1/2 cup of unsweetened shredded coconut, 1/4 cup of melted coconut oil, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Mix everything together until it forms a crumbly texture. This will be the delicious topping for your apple crisp.
Grease a baking dish with some coconut oil or cooking spray. Pour the prepared apple filling into the dish, spreading it out evenly. Then, sprinkle the grain-free granola crumble over the top, covering the apples completely. Pop the dish into the preheated oven and let it bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown and crisp.
Once the grain-free granola apple crisp is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Serve it warm with a scoop of your favorite dairy-free ice cream or a dollop of coconut whipped cream. Enjoy the perfect balance of sweetness and crunch in every bite!
