Indulge in the flavors of the South with our irresistible Po' Boy sandwich recipe. Crispy seafood, tangy sauce, and fluffy bread, oh my!
Take note
Be careful when handling hot oil and ensure seafood is fully cooked before consumption.
In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Dip your choice of seafood, such as shrimp or fish fillets, into beaten eggs, then coat them in the flour mixture. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet over medium-high heat.
Gently place the coated seafood into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the fryer or skillet. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Once done, transfer the fried seafood to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of Creole mustard, 1 tablespoon of hot sauce, 1 minced garlic clove, and salt to taste. Set aside.
Slice a French baguette or soft hoagie roll lengthwise, leaving one side intact. Spread the prepared sauce generously on both sides of the bread. Arrange the crispy seafood on the bottom half of the bread, then top with sliced tomatoes, lettuce, and pickles. Close the sandwich.
Cut the Po' Boy sandwich into smaller portions, if desired. Serve immediately and savor every bite of this irresistible creation. Prepare for a flavor explosion!
