Master the art of the soft-boiled egg with our foolproof method. From runny yolks to a perfectly set white, breakfast perfection awaits!
Take note
Handle the eggs with care, as they can be delicate little fellows. And remember, working with boiling water comes with its own set of dangers. Safety first, egg masters!
Gather your eggs, the star of the show! Place your eggs in a saucepan, and fill it with enough cold water to cover the eggs by an inch or so.
Place the saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to high. Once the water comes to a rolling boil, reduce the heat to low and let it gently simmer for about 5-6 minutes to achieve that perfect softness.
After the cooking time is up, carefully drain the hot water and place the eggs into a bowl filled with ice water. Let them chill out for a minute or two to stop the cooking process and make them easier to handle.
Gently tap each egg on a hard surface to create a few cracks, then carefully peel away the shell. Rinse the eggs under cold water to remove any lingering shell fragments. Season with a sprinkle of salt and pepper, and they're ready to be enjoyed!
