Add sparkle to your dessert table with our Glittery Candy Apples! A sweet treat that's as beautiful as it is delicious.
Take note
Please keep in mind that some glitters are not edible, so make sure to use edible glitter specifically made for food. Also, since this recipe involves working with hot syrup, be extra careful to avoid any burns.
Start by washing and thoroughly drying your apples. Remove any stems or leaves, and insert a stick into the top of each apple. You can use wooden popsicle sticks or lollipop sticks for this.
In a medium-sized saucepan, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar, 3/4 cup of water, and 1/2 cup of light corn syrup. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Once the mixture comes to a boil, continue cooking until it reaches the hard candy stage (around 300°F on a candy thermometer).
Once the candy coating is ready, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Carefully stir in your desired edible glitter, making sure it's evenly distributed throughout the mixture. Use a color that complements the color of your apples or go wild with a combination of different glitter colors!
Working quickly but carefully, dip each prepared apple into the glittery candy coating, making sure it's completely covered. Allow any excess coating to drip off, and then place the coated apple on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden.
Give your glittery candy apples some time to cool completely and let the glitter set. Once they're completely cooled, they're ready to impress! Serve them immediately or store them in an airtight container for up to a week.
