Caution: Churros may cause addiction and cravings. Proceed at your own delicious risk.
In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 cup of unsalted butter. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.
Remove the saucepan from heat and add 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Stir vigorously until the dough comes together and forms a ball.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or pot. Fill a piping bag fitted with a star tip with the dough. Pipe the dough into long churro shapes directly into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, then transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
Roll the hot churros in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon until they are well-coated.
Arrange the heavenly churros on a plate and serve them with melted chocolate or hot chocolate dipping sauce. Dip, bite, and savor each scrumptious piece!
