Items needed to answer the question, How do I make gluten-free churros. Items include: Gluten-free flour Sugar Salt Egg Warm milk Vanilla extract Vegetable oil Cinnamon
  • Gluten-free flour 1 cup
  • Sugar 1 tablespoon
  • Salt a pinch
  • Egg 1
  • Warm milk 1 cup
  • Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil 2 inches (for frying)
  • Cinnamon 1 teaspoon

Take note
Be careful while handling hot oil and remember to double-check that all your ingredients are gluten-free.

1

Mixing the dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of gluten-free flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and a pinch of salt. Whisk them together to evenly distribute the ingredients.

2

Adding wet ingredients

In a separate bowl, beat 1 egg and then add 1 cup of warm milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to it. Stir until well combined.

3

Creating the churro dough

Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. Mix everything together until a smooth dough forms. You can use your hands to knead the dough gently if needed.

4

Piping the churros

Transfer the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle. This will give your churros that classic ridged look. If you don't have a piping bag, you can use a sturdy, sealable plastic bag and cut off one corner.

5

Frying the churros

Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a medium-sized saucepan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully pipe 4-5 inch long churros directly into the oil, using scissors to cut them. Fry the churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil.

6

Coating with cinnamon sugar

In a shallow bowl, mix 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Roll each churro in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.

7

Serve and enjoy!

Serve your gluten-free churros warm and enjoy them plain, or pair them with a dipping sauce of your choice, like chocolate or caramel. Share them with friends or keep them all to yourself (we won't judge!).
