1

Gather your creepy-crawly ingredients

To make homemade gummy worms, you'll need 2/3 cup of cold water, 1/3 cup of fruit juice (your choice of flavor!), 1/2 cup of gelatin powder, 1/2 cup of corn syrup, 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid (for that tangy zing), and some food coloring (optional, but oh-so-fun!).

2

Mix and heat the wriggly concoction

In a small saucepan, combine the cold water, fruit juice, gelatin powder, corn syrup, and citric acid. Give it a good stir until everything is well mixed. Place the saucepan over medium heat and let the mixture simmer, stirring occasionally, until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

3

Add a splash of color (if you dare!)

Feeling adventurous? Now's the time to add a few drops of food coloring to make your gummy worms extra vibrant. Stir it in slowly until you achieve the color of your nightmares. I mean, dreams. We meant dreams.

4

Wormify your mixture

Once your gelatin mixture is ready, it's time to transfer it into worm-shaped molds. You can use worm-shaped candy molds or even improvise with straws. If you're using straws, make sure they're bendy and flexible. Simply squeeze the gelatin mixture into the molds or straws and let them cool for about 20 minutes.

5

Unleash the worms!

After the gummy worms have cooled and hardened, it's time to release them from their moldy confines. If you used candy molds, gently press on the back of each mold cavity to ease the worms out. If you used straws, pinch one end and push the worm out. Ta-da! You've got a squirming batch of homemade gummy worms!
