Take note
Be careful not to burn yourself when handling hot ingredients or using the oven.
In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, minced onion, garlic powder, allspice, nutmeg, egg, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
Take a small amount of the meatball mixture and roll it between your palms to form a small meatball. Repeat until all the mixture is used up. Aim for bite-sized meatballs that will fit nicely on slider buns.
Heat some oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Make sure to turn them gently to avoid breaking them apart.
In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk until well combined to make a roux. Slowly pour in beef broth and whisk constantly until the sauce thickens. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper until smooth.
Add the cooked meatballs to the saucepan with the sauce. Gently stir until the meatballs are well coated with the sauce. Continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
Slice slider buns in half horizontally. Place a meatball with some sauce on each bottom half. Top with a slice of cheese and cover with the top half of the bun. Repeat for all sliders.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the assembled sliders on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the buns are slightly toasted.
Remove the sliders from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm and enjoy your Swedish Meatball Sliders with a side of lingonberry jam, if desired.
