Take note
Keep in mind that working with dough can be a messy affair, so be prepared for some sticky fun in the kitchen. Also, make sure to read through the entire recipe before starting to ensure you have all the necessary ingredients and equipment.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Give it a good stir to make sure everything is well mixed.
Pour in 3/4 cup of almond milk, 1/4 cup of melted coconut oil, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix everything together until a smooth dough forms. Don't overmix, or your donuts will turn out tough!
Take small handfuls of dough and roll them into balls. Then, flatten each ball with your hands to form a small disk. Place a teaspoonful of your favorite vegan chocolate spread or jam in the center of each disk. Carefully fold the edges of the disk over the filling to seal it inside.
In a deep pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully lower the filled donuts into the hot oil and fry on each side for about 2 minutes, or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the donuts to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Once the donuts have cooled slightly, roll them in a bowl of powdered sugar to coat them fully. This adds an extra touch of sweetness! Now, sink your teeth into pure vegan donut bliss. Serve them fresh and warm to maximize the gooey center experience.
