Please exercise caution while handling sharp knives and hot ingredients.
Gather all the ingredients needed for your Phorrito. You'll need cooked rice noodles, thinly sliced beef or chicken, fresh bean sprouts, Thai basil leaves, lime wedges, and hoisin sauce. Have everything washed, chopped, and ready to go!
Fill a shallow dish with room temperature water. Dip a sheet of rice paper into the water and rotate it gently until it softens and becomes pliable. Remove from the water and place it on a clean surface.
Start by placing a small amount of cooked rice noodles on the lower third of the rice paper. Add a few slices of beef or chicken, a handful of bean sprouts, some Thai basil leaves, and a squeeze of lime juice. Drizzle a teaspoon or two of hoisin sauce over the fillings.
Fold the sides of the rice paper over the fillings, then tuck in the bottom edge and roll it up tightly, like a burrito. The rice paper should stick together and seal the fillings inside. Repeat these steps for each Phorrito.
Wrap each Phorrito tightly in plastic wrap to keep it secure. Place the wrapped Phorritos in an airtight container or a sealable plastic bag. Keep them cool with an ice pack in your lunch bag to maintain freshness until it's time to eat.
