To whip up these scrumptious gingerbread spoons, you'll need 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of unsalted butter (softened), 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of molasses, 1 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1 lightly beaten egg.
In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and molasses until smooth. Then, add the egg and mix well. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Use a spoon-shaped cookie cutter to cut out spoon shapes from the dough. Place the spoons on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Slide the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake the gingerbread spoons for 10-12 minutes, or until set and slightly golden around the edges. Keep in mind that the spoons will harden as they cool, so don't be tempted to overbake them. Once ready, remove from the oven and let them cool completely.
