Warm and comforting, our 'bread bowl cups' recipe will satisfy your cravings. Perfect for soups, dips, and stews!
Take note
Be careful when handling hot bread bowls as they can be quite hot, especially when just out of the oven. Allow them to cool slightly before enjoying!
In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of instant yeast, 2 teaspoons of salt, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Mix well. Slowly add 1 and 1/2 cups of warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a soft dough forms.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 4 equal portions. Take one portion and shape it into a ball. Flatten the ball slightly and use your hands to create a deep well in the center, forming a cup shape. Repeat with the remaining portions of dough.
Place the shaped dough cups on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover them with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes in a warm place.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the cups have finished their second rise, bake them in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly.
