Celebrate the plant-based life with our 'flavorful vegetarian gravy' recipe. A delicious accompaniment to your veggie feast!
Take note
While our vegetarian gravy is packed with flavor, please note that it contains gluten and soy for those with allergies or dietary restrictions.
To start off, let's make sure we have everything we need. Here's the list: vegetable broth, soy sauce, nutritional yeast, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, rosemary, flour, butter (or vegan butter if you prefer), salt, and pepper.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. If you're using vegan butter, it may not melt as quickly, but be patient!
Once the butter is melted, add the flour to the saucepan. Stir constantly for about 2 minutes until the mixture becomes golden brown. This creates a roux, which will thicken our gravy.
Gradually whisk in the vegetable broth, ensuring there are no lumps. Keep whisking until the mixture is smooth and thickening.
Time to add all those delicious seasonings. Stir in the soy sauce, nutritional yeast, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, and rosemary. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Taste your gravy and season with salt and pepper to your liking. Remember, you can always add more, but it's hard to take it away!
Your flavorful vegetarian gravy is ready to be poured over mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or anything else your heart desires. Serve it up, take a moment to appreciate your culinary skills, and enjoy!
