Whisk yourself away to the Amalfi coast with our zesty limoncello gelato recipe! Sunshine in a scoop, for that perfect citrusy burst!
Take note
Be mindful of your alcohol consumption, as this recipe uses limoncello. Also, keep in mind that gelato takes time to freeze properly, so be patient!
In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of heavy cream, 1 cup of whole milk, 1 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of limoncello. Whisk everything together until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and the mixture to get nice and cold.
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. This usually takes about 20-30 minutes until the gelato reaches a creamy consistency.
Transfer the churned gelato into an airtight container, and place it in the freezer for a minimum of 2 hours. For optimal texture, let it freeze for about 4-6 hours, or overnight if you can resist the temptation!
