Roll up your sleeves and dive into our turkey meatballs in tomato sauce recipe. The secret? Our no-mess technique keeps your hands sauce-free!
Take note
Be careful when handling hot items and sharp knives while preparing this recipe. Always exercise caution and keep kids away from the cooking area.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the meatballs from sticking.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound (450g) of ground turkey, 1/2 cup (50g) of breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup (60ml) of milk, 1/4 cup (30g) of grated Parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup (10g) of chopped fresh parsley, 1 clove of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon (5ml) of dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) of black pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
Now comes the fun part! Grab a small ice cream scoop or a spoon and scoop out the turkey mixture. Roll it gently between your palms to form meatballs. Make sure they are evenly sized, so they cook evenly too.
Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and pop them into the preheated oven. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and golden brown on the outside. This way, you can avoid the mess of frying them in a pan.
While the meatballs are baking, let's prepare the tomato sauce. In a medium-sized saucepan, heat 2 cups (500ml) of tomato sauce over medium heat. Once the sauce starts to bubble, reduce the heat and let it simmer gently.
Using a pair of tongs, carefully transfer the baked meatballs from the baking sheet into the simmering tomato sauce. Let them continue to simmer together for another 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Your turkey meatballs in tomato sauce are now ready to be devoured! Serve them over pasta, rice, or with some crusty bread. Don't forget a sprinkle of fresh parsley or grated Parmesan cheese for that extra pizzazz. Enjoy!
