Experience a whimsical treat with our colorful 'Twilight Turquoise Taffy' recipe! Stretchy, chewy, and oh-so-sweet. It'll tantalize your taste buds.
Take note
Caution: Making taffy can be addictive! Please resist the urge to eat it all at once.
First things first, let's gather all the ingredients you'll need for this enchanting taffy. You'll need 2 cups of sugar, 1 cup of light corn syrup, 1 cup of water, 2 teaspoons of salt, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of turquoise food coloring, and 1 tablespoon of butter.
In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Give it a good stir to make sure everything is well mixed. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook the mixture until the candy thermometer reaches 260°F (127°C), also known as the 'hard ball stage'. This should take around 20-25 minutes.
Once the taffy mixture reaches the 'hard ball stage', remove it from the heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract and turquoise food coloring. Be careful not to splash yourself with the hot mixture as you do this step. Our taffy is all about being colorful, so don't be shy with that turquoise hue!
Now comes the fun part! Take the taffy mixture and pour it onto a greased marble slab or baking sheet. Let it cool for a few minutes until it's comfortable to touch. Using buttered hands, start pulling, stretching, and twirling the taffy. The more you stretch and pull, the chewier it will become. Get your arms ready for a workout!
Once the taffy is nice and stretchy, it's time to shape and cut it into bite-sized pieces. You can roll it into long ropes and cut them into smaller sections, or use a greased knife to slice it into squares. Get creative and make it as aesthetically pleasing as possible. Remember, we eat with our eyes too!
To preserve the freshness of your Twilight Turquoise Taffy, individually wrap each piece in wax paper or cellophane. This will also make it easier to share with friends (if you can resist eating it all yourself). Once wrapped, it's time to indulge in this chewy, stretchy, and oh-so-tasty treat. Bon appétit!
