Add a little twist to your snack time with our orange peel candies recipe. Zest up your life with a burst of citrusy goodness!
Take note
Be cautious when handling hot sugar syrup, as it can cause burns if not handled properly. Additionally, make sure to wash the oranges thoroughly before peeling to remove any wax or dirt.
To make your orange peel candies, you'll need: - 4 oranges - 2 cups of water - 2 cups of sugar
Using a sharp knife, carefully peel the oranges, making sure to remove any pith (the white part) as much as possible. Cut the peels into thin strips or desired shape.
Place the orange peels in a pot of boiling water and blanch them for 2 minutes. Drain the peels and set them aside.
In the same pot, combine 2 cups of water and 2 cups of sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Add the blanched orange peels to the sugar syrup and simmer for about 45 minutes, or until the peels become translucent and tender.
Using a slotted spoon, remove the candied orange peels from the syrup and place them on a wire rack to cool. Allow them to dry for at least 24 hours before enjoying.
Once fully dry, store your orange peel candies in an airtight container. Serve them as a deliciously tangy snack or use them as a garnish for desserts and cocktails.
