1

Make the teriyaki sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of mirin, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Set the sauce aside for later.

2

Prepare the burger patties

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1/4 cup of panko breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons of finely chopped green onions, 2 cloves of minced garlic, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.

3

Cook the burgers

Heat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Place the burger patties onto the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, brush the tops of the patties with some of the teriyaki sauce.

4

Assemble the burgers

Toast the burger buns if desired. Spread a spoonful of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Place a burger patty on top of the mayo, followed by a slice of pineapple, a slice of red onion, and a leaf of lettuce. Drizzle some more teriyaki sauce on top. Finally, put the other half of the bun on top to complete your teriyaki burger masterpiece!
