In a large saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over low heat. Add a 10-ounce bag of marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
Remove the melted marshmallow mixture from heat and add 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until the cereal is well coated with the marshmallow mixture.
Grease a round cake pan and press the Rice Krispie mixture firmly into the bottom of the pan.
Allow the Rice Krispie Treats cake to cool completely at room temperature. This will help the cake hold its shape.
Once the cake has cooled, remove it from the cake pan and place it on a serving plate. Frost the cake with your favorite frosting and add any desired decorations.
