Indulge in a bowl of creamy rice pudding with our delectably easy recipe. Warm, comforting, and oh-so-delicious!
Take note
Before we begin, remember to be patient while the rice cooks, and resist the temptation to eat it all before it turns into creamy deliciousness!
In a medium-sized saucepan, combine 1 cup of white rice, 2 cups of water, and a pinch of salt. Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat.
Once the rice reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a lid. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed most of the water. Stir occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
Next, pour in 4 cups of milk (you can use any type you like, but whole milk will give you the creamiest results) and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Stir everything together.
For an extra kick of flavor, you have some optional add-ins! Feel free to toss in a cinnamon stick, a splash of vanilla extract, and a pinch of nutmeg. Give it a good stir and bring the mixture to a simmer.
Let the rice pudding simmer gently for about 25-30 minutes, or until it reaches your desired consistency. Stir occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom and to distribute the flavors evenly.
When the rice pudding is creamy and dreamy, remove it from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes. You can enjoy it warm or refrigerate it for a few hours for a chilled treat. Serve it in bowls, sprinkle some cinnamon on top, and dive in!
