Indulge in gooey, crispy perfection with our ultimate mozzarella sticks recipe! Your taste buds won't be able to resist these cheesy bites of heaven.
Take note
Make sure to be careful when working with hot oil. It's important to handle the mozzarella sticks gently to prevent them from falling apart.
First, gather all the ingredients you'll need: 8 ounces of mozzarella cheese, 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 2 large eggs, 1 cup of breadcrumbs, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, and vegetable oil for frying.
Next, cut the mozzarella into sticks. Aim for about 1/2-inch thick sticks, each about 3-4 inches long. It's okay if they're not perfectly uniform in size; they'll still taste delicious!
Set up a coating station by placing the flour in one bowl, whisked eggs in another, and breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a third bowl. Line them up in that order.
Take each mozzarella stick and coat it in flour, then dip it in the whisked eggs, and finally roll it in the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure each stick is thoroughly coated at each step.
Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze them for about 1-2 hours until they're firm. This will help prevent them from melting too quickly when you fry them.
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C). You'll need enough oil to fully submerge the mozzarella sticks. A couple of inches should do the trick.
Gently lower a few frozen mozzarella sticks into the hot oil using a slotted spoon or tongs. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes, or until they turn golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pot.
Once golden brown, carefully remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve them while they're still warm and enjoy!
