Take note
Hot oil can be dangerous, so please exercise caution while frying. Also, be prepared for mouthwatering aromas that may attract your neighbors!
In a saucepan, bring 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 cup of unsalted butter to a boil. Once the butter has melted, remove the pan from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Mix until the dough comes together and forms a ball.
Heat a large pot filled with vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C). Using a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped tip, pipe about 4-inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, flipping once to ensure even cooking. Remove the churros with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
