1

Caramelize the Onions

Grab a pan and heat it up over medium-low heat. Add some olive oil and thinly sliced onions. Stir occasionally and let the onions cook for about 30 minutes, or until they become golden brown and caramelized. Patience is a virtue!

2

Mix the Creamy Base

In a bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix it all together until smooth and well-combined. Don't be shy, put some elbow grease into it!

3

Add the Caramelized Onions

Once the onions have cooled down a bit, add them to the creamy base. Stir everything together until the onions are evenly distributed throughout the dip. For added decadence, you can reserve a few caramelized onions to sprinkle on top as a garnish.

4

Chill and Serve

Pour the onion dip into a serving bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Refrigerate the dip for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together. When it's party time, remove the dip from the fridge, give it a good stir, and bring out the potato chips. It's time to dip and enjoy!
