In a large mixing bowl, beat 16 ounces of softened cream cheese until creamy. Gradually add in 1 cup of powdered sugar, 1/4 cup of cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and fold in 1 ½ cups of whipped topping until fully incorporated.
Pour the filling onto the chilled crust in the springform pan. Smooth the top with a spatula. Cover the pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set. For best results, let the cheesecake chill overnight.
