Take note
Please exercise caution while working with hot appliances and open flames during this recipe. Be careful when handling hot ingredients to avoid burns.
Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. While the iron is heating up, gather all the ingredients and equipment needed for this recipe.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to combine all the dry ingredients.
Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Crack 2 large eggs into the well and pour in 1 1/2 cups of milk. Add 1/4 cup of melted butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Whisk everything together until the batter is smooth and well combined.
Grease your preheated waffle iron with some cooking spray or melted butter. Pour the waffle batter onto the iron, using the amount recommended by the manufacturer. Close the lid and cook the waffles until they are golden brown and cooked through.
While the waffles are cooking, gather your smores toppings. Break a few graham crackers into small pieces, chop some chocolate into chunks, and prepare some mini marshmallows.
Once the waffles are cooked, remove them from the waffle iron and place them on a plate. Start by sprinkling the graham cracker pieces, chocolate chunks, and mini marshmallows over the waffle. Add as much or as little as you desire. For an ultimate smores experience, you can also drizzle some chocolate sauce or caramel sauce on top. Alternatively, you can sandwich the waffles with the smores toppings between two waffle halves.
If desired, you can give the smores overloaded waffles a final touch by briefly placing them under the broiler to melt the marshmallows and create that classic smores look. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning. Serve the waffles warm and enjoy the gooey, chocolatey, smores-filled delight!
