You'll need

Items needed to answer the question, How do I bake Smores Brownies. Items include: Unsalted butter Dark chocolate Granulated sugar Eggs Vanilla extract All-purpose flour Salt Mini marshmallows
  • Unsalted butter 1 cup (225g)
  • Dark chocolate 8 ounces (225g)
  • Granulated sugar 1 and 3/4 cups (350g)
  • Eggs 4 large
  • Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
  • All-purpose flour 1 cup (125g)
  • Salt 1/4 teaspoon
  • Mini marshmallows 2 cups (200g)

Take note
Be careful when working with hot ingredients and make sure to not overcook the marshmallows as they can quickly turn into a sticky mess.

1

Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.

2

Prepare the brownie batter

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 cup (225g) of unsalted butter and 8 ounces (225g) of dark chocolate. Stir until smooth and set aside to cool slightly. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 and 3/4 cups (350g) of granulated sugar, 4 large eggs, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar mixture, stirring constantly. Finally, add 1 cup (125g) of all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Mix until well combined.

3

Bake the brownies

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Don't overbake, as we want our brownies to be fudgy!

4

Top with marshmallows

Once the brownies are done baking, remove them from the oven and evenly distribute 2 cups (200g) of mini marshmallows on top. Gently press them into the brownie surface.

5

Toast the marshmallows

Turn your oven to broil mode and place the pan of brownies back in, on the top rack. Watch closely as the marshmallows start to toast and turn golden brown. This usually takes about 1-2 minutes, so don't wander off!

6

Cool and enjoy

Once the marshmallows are nicely toasted, carefully remove the pan from the oven (don't forget your oven mitts!). Let the brownies cool in the pan for a few minutes, then use the parchment paper overhang to lift them out. Allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing into squares. Get ready for a taste explosion!
