In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, 1 packet of active dry yeast, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix well. In a separate microwave-safe bowl, heat 3/4 cup of milk and 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter until warm (about 110°F). Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, or until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Meanwhile, prepare the cinnamon filling by mixing together 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Set aside.
Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down to release any air bubbles. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle of about 12x18 inches.
Spread 2 tablespoons of softened butter evenly over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar filling mixture over the butter, covering the entire surface.
Starting with one long side of the rectangle, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces, each about 1 inch thick.
Take each slice and gently twist it from the center, creating a decorative spiral shape. Place the twisted rolls onto a greased baking dish, cover with the kitchen towel, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Once the rolls have risen for the second time, bake them in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Let them cool for a few minutes, then dive in and enjoy your deliciously twisted cinnamon rolls!
