1

Mixing the Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of salt, and 2 teaspoons of instant yeast. Add 2 cups of warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it sit for 12-18 hours, allowing it to rise and develop flavor.

2

Shaping the Dough

Once your dough has risen, generously flour a clean surface and dump the dough onto it. Fold the dough onto itself a few times to shape it into a loose ball. Then, cover it with the towel again and let it rest for another 1-2 hours.

3

Preheating the Oven

Place a Dutch oven or a heavy oven-safe pot with a lid into your oven. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Let the pot heat up in the oven for at least 30 minutes to ensure it's nice and hot.

4

Baking the Bread

Carefully remove the hot pot from the oven. Sprinkle a little flour on the bottom of the pot to prevent sticking. Gently transfer your dough into the pot, seam side up. Put the lid back on and carefully place the pot back into the oven. Bake for 30 minutes with the lid on, then remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes to get that beautiful crispy crust.
