Take note
Please note that activated charcoal may interact with certain medications. Consult with a healthcare professional before consuming if you are on any medication. Also, be careful as activated charcoal can be messy and may stain clothing and surfaces.
To make a vegan Charcoal Latte, you will need: 1 teaspoon of food-grade activated charcoal powder, 1 cup of your favorite plant-based milk (almond, soy, oat, or coconut work well), 1-2 teaspoons of sweetener (such as maple syrup or agave), and 1-2 shots of espresso or 1 cup of strong brewed coffee.
In a small bowl, combine the activated charcoal powder with a splash of water. Mix well until it forms a smooth paste. This will help prevent any clumps of charcoal in your latte.
Pour the plant-based milk into a saucepan and heat it on low-medium heat. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching. Heat until the milk is hot but not boiling.
Once the milk is warm, whisk in the charcoal paste and sweetener. Continue whisking until the charcoal is fully incorporated and the milk turns a dark, velvety color.
While the milk is warming up, brew a shot of espresso or prepare a cup of strong coffee. If using pre-made espresso or coffee, simply warm it up.
Pour the brewed espresso or coffee into a mug, then carefully pour the charcoal-infused milk on top. Give it a gentle stir to ensure everything is well mixed. Enjoy your vegan Charcoal Latte!
