Get creative in the kitchen with our 'Twisted Piragi' recipe! Add your own twist to traditional Latvian flavors with these delicious bacon and onion stuffed rolls.
Take note
Handle bacon with care as it may be hot when stuffing the rolls. Make sure to let them cool slightly before indulging in their deliciousness.
Start by preparing the dough for the rolls. You can either use store-bought dough or make your own from scratch. Roll it out into a thin rectangle shape, approximately ¼-inch thick.
Now it's time to add the star ingredients - bacon and onion! Cook the bacon until crispy, then finely chop it. Dice the onion and sauté it until soft and translucent. Mix the bacon and onion together in a bowl.
Take the bacon and onion mixture and spread it evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Carefully roll up the dough into a tight log, making sure to seal the edges as you go along.
Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled dough into even-sized pieces, around 1-inch thick. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
