Fire up the grill and try our egg-topped pizza recipe with a twist. Grilled pizza crust, smoky flavors, and a sunny-side up egg on top.
Take note
CAUTION: Grilling pizza can be addictive! Once you taste the smoky goodness, you may never want to eat pizza any other way again. Also, be careful when handling hot grill and follow all safety precautions.
Fire up your grill to medium-high heat and preheat it. While the grill is heating, roll out your pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. Aim for a thin and even crust, about 12 inches in diameter.
Gently transfer the rolled-out dough onto a well-greased pizza stone or directly onto the grill grates. Close the lid and let the dough cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until you see grill marks forming and the dough starts to puff up.
Carefully flip the partially cooked dough using a large spatula or tongs. This can be a bit tricky, so don't be afraid to ask for a helping hand! Now comes the fun part - spread your favorite pizza sauce, sprinkle cheese, and add any other desired toppings. Be creative!
Create a small well in the center of the pizza toppings and crack an egg into it. Try to keep the yolk intact for that classic sunny-side up look. Season the egg with salt, pepper, or your preferred spices.
Close the grill lid and let the pizza cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, the egg white is set, and the yolk is still runny. Keep a close eye on it to avoid overcooking the egg.
Using a pizza peel or a sturdy spatula, carefully remove the egg-topped pizza from the grill. Let it cool for a minute, then slice it up and share the deliciousness with your friends and family. Prepare for a round of applause!
