Short on time but craving vegan BBQ wings? Our quick and easy recipe will have you devouring deliciousness in no time!
Take note
Be careful not to overcook the BBQ wings, as they can become dry and tough. Also, make sure to use a heat-resistant cooking surface or grill, as the BBQ sauce may caramelize and stick.
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup (60ml) of maple syrup, 1/4 cup (60ml) of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Toss 2 cups (240g) of plant-based chicken substitute (such as seitan or tofu) in the sauce until well-coated. Place the coated 'wings' on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy and slightly browned.
Remove the 'wings' from the oven and brush them with additional sauce. If desired, sprinkle with a little bit of smoked paprika for extra flavor.
Set your oven to broil and return the 'wings' to the oven for about 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce begins to caramelize and slightly char. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning!
Transfer the vegan BBQ wings to a plate, garnish with chopped fresh cilantro or green onions if desired, and serve with your favorite vegan ranch or dipping sauce. Get ready to feast!
